The book of the Russian writer and translator Vilesaev Vikenty Vikentievich (real name Smidovich) (1867-1945) “Pushkin"s satellites” is surprisingly easy to read even to a person who was not sophisticated in literary criticism and Pushkinism. Written after a large biographical study “Pushkin in life”, consisting of chronological evidence of contemporaries about Pushkin’s life, it was regarded by Veresaev as a continuation. Nevertheless, this is a completely independent book, and taking it in his hands, the reader will discover a new huge world for himself - the people who surrounded Pushkin were simply familiar or close to him throughout his life.
Small biographies, each of which occupies from half to three pages, no more, gathered in chapters that note the main milestones of Pushkin’s life-from households and lyceum friends and ending with officials of St. Petersburg with whom he had to deal. The unique, painstaking work of Veresaev gathered this “Pushkin Circle” together and, in addition, in the biography of each laid a whole story - is it funny, tragic, fateful - but in any case, which is extremely important for the reader, who is interested not only in the details of Pushkin’s life, But also the biographical, everyday of the background of his poetry.
