This book includes works of different years created by Ivan Sergeyevich Shmelev (1873-1950), one of the best prose writers of the Silver Age of Russian Culture. The autobiographical novel “The Praying” (1935), along with the novel “Summer of the Lord”, is a recognized peak of Shmelev’s work, which included in the collection. The collection also includes the novels “Old Valaam” (1937), “Uncepposed Chalice” (1918) and a large story “Kulikovo Field” (1939-1947)
