Ilya Ilf (1897-1937) and Evgeny Petrov (1902-1942) in two months 1935 and 1936 twice crossed America at the new "Ford" "of a noble mouse color". They described and published everything what they saw - first in parts in the "Light" and "Pravda", then a separate book. On the trip, they were accompanied by the "Family of Adam"- In fact, these were General Electric engineer Solomon Abramovich the throne and his wife Florence, who translated and explained the American realities to the authors. For Soviet citizens, the book became the true discovery of America - witty, detailed, friendly, almost deprived of ideological stamps. They appreciated the book in the USA. Here is the book that the Americans must read and think. Not many of our foreign guests were removed to such a distance from Broadway and the central streets of Chicago, not many could tell about their impressions with such liveliness and humor. This is one of the best books written about America by foreigners. The experience of Ilf and Petrov was then repeated repeatedly, and each time quite successfully, since in a real classic - an inexhaustible supply of ideas, energy and charm. This book is enough for a long time
