The book included two immortal novels by Ivan Alexandrovich Goncharov, one of the classics of Russian literature.
Ordinary History (1847) - his debut novel. It unfolds an eternal plot about the collapse of illusions. A romantic young man comes from the province to the capital, full of hope, dreaming of the glory of the writer, about friendship and bright love. In St. Petersburg, he acts “under the wing” of his uncle, a man with great life experience, who is skeptical of exalted dreams and aspirations. The conflict of two generations, two characters, two worldviews in “ordinary history” are shown with a subtle humor inherent in Goncharov and soulful lyricism
