The famous "Tales of Belkin" (1830) were born in the Boldin autumn of Alexander Pushkin, the most productive period of his creative biography.
Creating his works, the great Russian writer did not like to adhere to any strict framework. They were driven by the thirst for the experiment, the desire to combine various directions. In the five "stories of Belkin" there are four of them: realism ("shot"), sentimentalism ("blizzard", "station caretaker"), vaudeville ("young lady-peasant"), Gothic ("Tomb").
In each story, fate puts heroes in extraordinary, most often tragic positions or, conversely, leads them to an unexpected and happy "denouement
