By the time Napoleon’s invasion of Russia "in 1938, Evgeny Viktorovich Tarle was already a world -famous historian. Alisted by the events of the Great French Revolution, Tarlei himself was not alien to political fundamental and became in many ways an exemplary historian of Bolshevik Russia, and then, in the 1930s, turned out to be objectionable to the new totalitarian regime. In his fundamental study of the Napoleonic invasion, Tarle combined the features of the 36th-related traditions of the historical approach and the fuse of young workers and peasant science.
