The Red Army left Kyiv on September 19, 1941, never receiving an order to retreat. We departed, blowing up the bridges through the Dnieper. Breaking into groups, they moved east. And there the scattered parts of the Southwestern Front fought surrounded. Subsequently, all these foci of desperate resistance - dissected, deprived of communication with each other - called the Kyiv boiler. The tragedy, confusion, the chaos of the first months of the war sent many destinies. So it happened with Joseph Piskunov. Siberit and Killed, Colonel Piskunov in peacetime participated in the construction of the Kyiv fortified area, which did not prevent him from enjoying his life in the company of a young mistress. The war changed a lot, turning the unpretentious “paradise of Joseph into a boiler with a boiling resin, in which his whole family disappeared. Circumstances forced the colonel to cooperate with the enemy. Having lost everything, he also sacrificed an officer honor for the sake of saving his son, so that he managed to survive and could fight the enemy with weapons in his hands
