Oleg Mikhailovich Kuvaev (1934–1975) is a Russian writer, the works of which are read out not the first generation of people around the world. A professional geologist and enthusiastic traveler, at one time, he did not just speak the language of contemporaries fascinated by romance travel, the idea of testing forces in a fight with the harsh nature of undeveloped territories - it was his prose in many ways and contributed to this hobby. “If in some year I am not at Chukotka ... then later, all winter, all the rest of the year can be somehow uncomfortable to live. Something is missing. Chukotka is like ... first love. It is here, on Chukotka, that the majority of his works, including the novel “Territory”, which since the publication withstood more than 30 reprints, was translated into many languages and twice filmed. The reasons for the unquenchable popularity of Kuvaev’s books are understandable: each of his text is literally permeated by the author’s sincere love to the amazing world of the northern land, which is only a real person to conquer.
