Shmelev fell to live at a time when the usual ways of life sharply and tragically collapsed, the fate of people broke. Ivan Sergeevich also experienced a steep break in history, the revolution cut his creative life into two halves: he lived in Russia, the other in a foreign land, in exile. This is not to say that Shmelev is a complete stranger for the domestic reader. He is one of the few emigrant writers who continued to be published in Russia until 1928. And later we had collections of his stories and stories. This book reveals those pages of the writer"s work that did not reach the Russian reader before.
