The Franco-German war of 1870–71 was one of the most important armed conflicts in European history, which largely predetermined the events of subsequent decades, including two destructive world wars. In domestic historiography, for a long time there was no generalizing work that would consider all aspects of this clash between the two great European powers. It was such a goal that the authors of this book set himself, one of whom is a specialist in Germany, and the second - in France of the corresponding period. Based on a wide source base and the latest achievements of world historiography, they represent the attention of readers of labor in which all faces of the Franco-German war are considered-from the actual fighting to diplomacy and the reaction of society to armed conflict
