In the works included in the collection, the amazing fate of Viktor Platonovich Nekrasov (1911–1987) - writer, architect, military sapper, emigrant was reflected. The story “In the trenches of Stalingrad” was published almost immediately after the war, in 1946, quickly received recognition and became one of the first samples of “lieutenant prose” - literature, honestly, without pathos and false pathetics telling about a person in the inhuman conditions of war. The book “In the Hometown” (1954)-about how difficult it is to truly return from the war, to re-find yourself. Written already in the exile, “The Little Sad Tale” (1985) - about the loss of illusions, about the fragility of friendly unions and life principles, about the temptations of glory. The skill of Nekrasov-prose is fully manifested in its psychologically accurate and masterfully written stories
