All lovers of the theater Anton Pavlovich Chekhov are known as a talented playwright, the author of deep, wise plays that invariably collect full halls in many countries of the world. However, there is another Chekhov - a brilliant feuilletonist, a master of short stories. It was with such witty, full of humor of miniatures that the writer"s activity of Antoshi Czechont began. So the grandson of the serf peasant and the future classic of world literature signed his first texts. He began to write them back in the Taganrog gymnasium, which he graduated in 1879. In the same year, Chekhov left his native Taganrog and became a student of the medical faculty at Moscow University.
At the end of the same 1879, the writer"s debut of Chekhov took place. His story "A letter to a scientific neighbor" was published in a weekly humorous magazine "Dragonfly". In subsequent years, the number of such small masterpieces increased to several hundred. According to the writer himself in those days, he sometimes wrote on a story on a day. And although the whole era has gone the past, in which the heroes of the young Chekhov live and act, it is unlikely that these days there will be a man whom these funny miniatures will leave indifferent. This publication includes more than 340 such humorous works of A.P. Chekhov. They were published in domestic magazines from 1880 to 1892.
