How do the wars begin? What events precede them? Can they be avoided? What political and military figures decide the fate of peoples in the turning points of history? These and many other issues occupy the author of this book by Vladimir Bryukhanov. His study concerns the history of the Austrian and German intelligence services - direct participants in the events that led to the First World War.
The author conducted a real investigation: he studied archival documents in Russia and abroad, the memories of the districts and witnesses of events more than a hundred years ago. By analyzing the available data and building logical conclusions, the historian managed to establish the circumstances of the mysterious death of Colonel Alfred Redle - one of the leaders of military intelligence and counterintelligence of Austria -Hungary, accused of cooperation with the Russians. In addition, on the pages of this book we will meet Adolf Hitler and find out how he was connected with one of the main intelligence officers of his time
