Among the works of a major researcher of military affairs, professor of the Nikolaev Academy of the General Staff, Nikolai Petrovich Mikhnevich, the book of the Fundamentals of Russian Military Excusion, published in 1898, occupies a special place. The author did not set himself the task of giving a complete overview of the achievements of domestic commanders. He sought to show the peculiarity of the approach of the Russian military leaders to the leadership of the armies in comparison with how their European colleagues carried out it. Therefore, the analysis of the battles and military campaigns of Russia is adjacent to this book with the analysis of some Western European battles and wars, which made it possible for Mikhnevich to very reasonably dispel the myth of the centuries -old backwardness of Russians in the field of military art. To create a more complete panorama of Russian military art in this publication, the work of N.P. Mikhnevich is supplemented by descriptions of some victories of Russian weapons made by other authors. At the end of the book, a dictionary of military terms is placed.
