The author of this work, when considering the features of a Hellenistic military affair, put a general battle at the forefront. The goal of J. Petrikovsky is to trace the development of the Macedonian phalanx through the prism of its superiority on the battlefield.
In addition to this, the author presented to the reader’s court his own reconstruction of various battles, trying to make it as realistic as possible. After all, the feeling of the atmosphere of the battle, its spectacles, sounds and emotions is often ignored, but such a necessary condition in order to understand the nature of the army, the meaning of decisions adopted by commanders, as well as the general course of battles
