The Golden Rose is one of the main creative peaks of Konstantin Georgievich Paustovsky (1892-1968) The rose, which the jeweller of the jewelry workshop made from the finest metal dust, became in the book of Paustovsky a truly gold metaphor. “We, writers, extract them for decades, these millions of grains of sand, collect unnoticed by ourselves, turn them into an alloy and then weak our "golden rose" from this alloy - a story, a novel or a poem. " Of course, Paustovsky writes not so much about himself as about his great colleagues in craft. His interlocutors are Tolstoy, Chekhov, Gorky, Maupassant, Bagritsky, Prishvin, Hugo, Green ... Paustovsky did not finish - like one of his brilliant predecessors, he burned the second volume. And in relation to the first, as a real master, it was quite harsh: Much in this work is expressed abruptly ... But if at least in a small share I managed to convey the idea of the excellent essence of writing, then I will consider that I fulfilled my duty Before literature ".
