The publication, prepared by specialists of the Russian State Military Historical Archive, is devoted to individual episodes of the defense of the Port Arthur fortress in the interpretation of its participants. Along with the certificates of defense managers, the collection includes documents of regimental, company, battery -level, containing a significant number of details of military operations and nuances of military life, mention of officers, lower ranks and defense participants, which cannot be found in the previously published documents of higher headquarters. The events that took place both during the defense and after the end of the war are touched upon.
A collection of documents is a continuation of the Russian-Japanese War published and the defense of Port Arthur of a two-volume publication, prepared in 2008 by the Russian State Military Historical Archive together with the Russian State Archive of the Navy and the Russian State State State Archive of film photophodes. These publications will allow the researcher to get a complete picture of the defense of the fortress.
The publication is equipped with a detailed scientific and reference apparatus and is intended for both historians and a wide range of readers interested in the history of the Russian-Japanese war and the biographies of its participants
