This is one of the best collections of stories about hunting, fishing, dogs and Russian nature. Evgeny Vasilievich Dubrovsky (1870-1941) was born in Rybinsk in the family of a military doctor. In childhood, he often moved with his family. After graduating from the Faculty of Law, St. Petersburg University served in the Ministry of Agriculture. He was also engaged in journalism, since 1904 he was an employee of the newspaper New Time. He wrote magnificent (according to contemporaries) materials about forest, hunting and nature. Since 1914 he worked as a forester in the Urals. In 1918, he moved to Vladimir, worked as a foreman on fuel harvesting and Plogon. In 1924 he moved to Leningrad, and in the same year he published his first short stories in the evening red newspaper ". Dedicated himself exclusively to literary activities. Taking a pseudonym for himself a forester, Dubrovsky emphasized that in his works he shared his impressions received over the years of work in the forests. His books on hunting were published: "Meetings in the Forest", "Far years", "Forest noise" (1935) He was an employee of children"s magazines "Hedgehog" and "Chizh".
