Yuri Olesha is one of the most amazing and unpredictable Russian stylists. His world - words, images, and conflicts - is bizarre and bewitching. For a modern reader, probably something here will seem unexpected and even strange: unusual colors, a whimsical combination of imagination with reality, the very manner of writing. A sharp observer, he knew how and in the runaway, as if sketches were not so significant events to open inexhaustible artistic capabilities, make our vision of people and objects almost stereoscopic.
