The “double” of the Russian classic writer Fedor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky (1821-1881) was published in early 1846, shortly after the novel “Poor People”, with the enthusiasm of the public, but repeated the previous success. The author complained that everyone calls the “double” boring and difficult for reading, but “everyone reads to one and re -read it on one.” Subsequently, Dostoevsky admitted that the “double” “failed” ... But it was in this work that one of the main creative features of the author is manifested for the first time - the idea of psychological “doubles” of the protagonist, which are worse and below his original. The theme of the spiritual “underground” outlined precisely in the “double” received in-depth development and other interpretation in “Notes from the underground” and novels of the 1860-1870s.
