On November 21, 1869, near Moscow, a murder of the listener of the Petrovsky agricultural academy Ivan Ivanov took place. The head of the secret of the Revolutionary Organization, Sergei Nechaev and four of his accomplices, was involved in the crime. The resonant matter was widely covered in the press and could not pass by the attention of F. M. Dostoevsky. Sergei Nechaev, who earned a reputation as a hard man, the dictator became the prototype of Peter Verkhovensky, one of the heroes of the sixth, the most politicized novel of the writer. "Demons" is a powerful political pamphlet on the anger of the day, which fully reflects the picture of the socio -political life of Russia of those years. Almost every character is a typical representative of a certain layer of society.
