In the works of Tolstoy, the events in themselves are always interesting, but the manifestations of the mental life of the heroes - the ability (or inability) of the soul to love, suffer, renew. This was noticed by the contemporaries of the writer: he occupies “more than more - the mental process itself, its forms, its laws, the dialectic of the soul, in order to express himself a certain term” - this was determined by N.G.
