This book includes religious and philosophical treatises L.N. Tolstoy "confession" and "about life", in which the writer summed up the years of his spiritual and moral searches.
"Confession" is an autobiographical work. Tolstoy describes his many years of searching for the meaning of life, starting from the youngest age, a painful fear of death, a sense of personality of a person before eternity and, finally, coming to God and faith.
Treaty of Tolstoy considered one of his main books. In it, he formulates the essence of his worldview. And in contrast to his previous ideas about death, it concludes that for a person who has known the true meaning of life in the service of moral ideals, death no longer exists
