Sergey Dovlatov is one of the most popular and readable Russian writers of the late twentieth century, and he is “doomed” to remain so for a long time. His works are the same great classic, which, for all its significance, remains interesting and close to readers, regardless of age, nationality, erudition or, in the words of Dovlatov himself, “degree of intellectual meticulousness”.
