The eighth volume of complete works and letters F.M. Dostoevsky contains the novel "Idiot", completed by the writer in 1868 in Florence. This book about a “positively beautiful person” can be perceived in contrast with a crime and punishment written two years earlier. If the story of Raskolnikov appears to us on the pages of the novel as a path from a crime to repentance, from darkness to light and genuine life, then Prince Myshkin, on the contrary, from the situation of marginal compassion and love for God"s world returns to the darkness of madness. An important feature of the novel is that in it Dostoevsky describes in detail his experience in the edge of life and death after the exposure of the Petershevtsev conspiracy.
