The second book of the sixteenth volume of letters I. S. Turgenev contains 224 letters and seven documents attributed to the section "Official letters and business papers", for the time from December 31, 1878 (January 12, 1879) to June 30 (July 12) 1879 inclusive, which are addressed to 80 addressees. Of these, 160 letters are printed according to the originals stored in domestic and foreign archives and private collections, 47 letters in digital copies, photocopies and facsimiles, 20 on printed texts and texts of the first publications, four - on manuscript and typewritten copies. Compared to the previous edition of autographs and other authoritative sources, the texts of twelve letters are clarified (5212, 5215, 5233 (partially), 5236, 5240, 5242, 5243, 5251, 5344, 5350, 5363, 5389), previously reproduced in printed publications.
