Almost every article has a photo. "Every former Alexandrinets and Aleksandrovets in this collection will find many of his comrades, with whom, perhaps, he did not have to see himself since the day of the school, and finds out about their life." (from the preface) The collection was compiled by Vladimir Nikolaevich Smerdov (1870 -), a graduate of the Alexander School, from 1899 to 1910. serving as an officer in the same school. Part I-III. Additionally: the personnel and list of former cadets extract from the book - the Alexandrinsky Sirot Cadet Corps from 1851 to 1863 and the Alexander Military School from 1863 to 1901.
