Caucasian Captive. Hadji Murat. Stories and Tales

The book contains the stories and stories of Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy (1828 - 1910) about the life of the army, the Caucasus and military operations, as the basis of which he took his own experience.
He spent 4 years in military service and was awarded the Order of "For the Defense of Sevastopol". The horrors that fell to the defense of the city’s defenders, he reflected in the "Sevastopol stories", read everywhere and reached Alexander II.
The emperor was so impressed that he ordered them to translate them into French and publish them in the Le Nord newspaper, which was read on the opposing side.
The story "Caucasian captive" was written for the "alphabet" and first published in 1872. Tolstoy himself highly appreciated this story as a "example of the techniques and language that I write and will write for large."
The story "Haji Murat" was published after the death of Tolstoy and became the result of his personal impressions and further research of the Caucasian war.
