Anthony Pogorelsky, aka Alexei Alekseevich Perovsky (1787-1836), occupies a special place in the literature of the 20-30s of the XIX century. He not only played an important role in the formation of Russian romanticism, but also had a creative influence on his famous contemporaries, such as Pushkin, Gogol, Odoevsky and Alexei Konstantinovich Tolstoy. It was for the last, his nephew, Pogorelsky wrote the magic story "Black Chicken, or underground inhabitants."
