The Battle of Rome is the second from the Roman McCallou novels “Lord of Rome”, first published in 1991 (under the name “The Grass Crown”).
The last decades of the existence of the Roman Republic. Far beyond its borders, the minted step of the legions of Rome hesitates the foundations of the great states and plunges to the dust of their until recently powerful rulers. But within the borders of the republic itself, restless: internal discord and uprisings threaten to undermine political stability. The aging and sick Guy Mari, the glorified conqueror of Germany and Numidia, is looking forward to the seventh consular period of the seventh consular period that was predicted many years ago. Mari is ready to step over the heads, because it is possible to get the coveted prize only bypassing the unprincipled ambitious people and intriguers of the new formation. But the long -awaited triumph threatens with confrontation with a new and perhaps the most dangerous rival - the flaming thirst for power by Lucius Cornelius Sulla, once the right hand of Guy Maria
