"Twelve chairs" (1927) is a novel written almost a century ago, but it seems that recently. He is quoted by everyone, even those who have not read the page of the text and did not look at a single adaptation, and there were already many of them. Ostap Bender, a great combinator, became a household character, and throughout Russia he was erected monuments. The story about how Bender, along with their "partner" Kisoy Vorobyaninov, is trying to find diamonds Madame Petukhova, hidden in one of 12 chairs of a furniture set, became truly "folk classics".
Roman was reprinted in Russia almost 200 times, it was translated to many languages, although it is quite difficult to convey the humor to which this amazing book is oversaturated in every sense. The book, which is still not fully solved: why Valentin Kataev offered this plot to two little -known journalists from Odessa, does the heroes have prototypes, who is hiding behind the figure of Ostap Bender?
Perhaps these riddles are so forever and will remain riddles. And the "meeting continues, gentlemen of the jurors"!
