During the Great Patriotic War, Soviet submariners sank and damaged 185 ships and enemy ships. 96 Soviet submarines and about 3.5 thousand submariners died. These figures can only insignly convey all the drama of the struggle that was carried out on the underwater front in 1941-1945.
The main figure on any underwater ship was always a commander. For a number of reasons, the names of real heroes from submariners became possible only in our time, when the ideological shackles fell and the documents of our and foreign archives became available. During the Great Patriotic War, 208 commanders went to combat campaigns. As a result of the study of documents, a list of ten most honored submariners has crystallized. The achievements of each of the heroes of this book are unique in their own way. Thus, the almost complete oblivion of these names in modern Russian society looks more paradoxical. This book is aimed at correcting this injustice
