Heinrich Ippolitovich Semiradsky was born 12 (24) October 1843 in Slobod Novobelgorod (now the village of Pecheneg) near Kharkov, in the family of a regimental doctor, officer of the Draghun regiment of the royal army. Parents of the future artist were Poles, the Father took place from the ancient Polish clan, known since the XVII century. The family retained Catholic religion and burned national traditions. Childhood and adolescence Kenryk, as his own native, spent in Kharkov. The first drawing lessons received in the gymnasium at Dmitry Ivanovich"s imaginary, student K.P. Brullova. It was him throughout the life of Semiradsky called the only teacher
