According to the author himself, the novel was created to enrich cinema with a fresh plot. And the task was accomplished - the novel, like many other works by London, has been repeatedly adapted for the screen. However, the films failed to fully convey the excitement and incredible charm of the literary original.
The captivating story of cousins Francis and Henry Morgan, distant descendants of the great pirate captain, who set out in search of the treasures of their legendary ancestor, and the beautiful Leoncia, whom both are in love with, remains to this day one of the most beloved books for generations of readers.
