Cheslav Chekhovich, during the civil war in Russia, fought in the White Army as part of its Polish contingent. In 1920, together with many other Russian officers landed in Constantinople, which became his home for a year and a half. Here he met with P.D. Supenssky, and then with George Ivanovich Gurdjieff.
This connection will remain until the death of Gurdjieff in 1949 - Chekhovich followed the teacher in Berlin, then at the Institute of Harmonic Development of Man in Prior, then helped Georgy Ivanovich in the apartment of Renar Street. After the death of Gurdjieva Cheslav Chekhovich continued to work together with Jeanne de Salzman (which is dedicated to this book) up to his death in 1958.
