The encyclopedia covers the period of revolutionary upheavals and the civil war in Russia from February 1917 to the end of 1923. Despite the fact that more than 90 years have passed since then, not a single reference publication has been released to the present, which was improperly and objectively reflecting this dramatic period of Russian history, which makes the publication an invaluable source of information both for teachers and students, and for all Interested in the history of the Fatherland. It must be admitted that when working on the encyclopedia, the author’s team experienced certain difficulties: the historical, political and factual components of many articles caused many disputes. But the authors are fundamentally, as in the creation of a large encyclopedia, they took a neutral, non -price position, trying to convey only historical facts to readers. Along with the restoration of a number of vocabulary sections lost in Soviet encyclopedias, articles related to the encyclopedia include the Soviet period of Russian history that is often silent at present. Having determined in the name of the encyclopedia the temporary framework of 1917-1923, the author’s collective in its desire to most fully cover the period of the February, October Revolutions, Civil War and Foreign Intventation, consciously tried not to limit itself to this period, including in the publication of the article telling about the time preceding And in many ways predetermining the course of history. Thus, the encyclopedia included detailed articles about the Russian Imperial Army and the Navy, the First World War, the Romanov dynasty, and the intelligent and cultural evolution of Russia on a temporary segment, the end of the 19th-first quarter of the XX century.
