The dictionary is a systematic description of the vocabulary of the Church Slavonic language of the New Age. This is the first experience of a fundamental multi -volume dictionary, which will be indispensable when reading biblical, liturgical, hagiographic and other Church Slavonic texts.
The main task of the dictionary is to serve as a source of information about the meanings of Church Slavonic words and expressions. Moreover, for each Church Slavonic word, Russian equivalent is given, some grammatical information, and, if necessary, information of an encyclopedic nature. The dictionary includes all vocabulary included in liturgical books, including geographical names (toponyms), own names identifying a person (anthroponyms), and official words. In addition, phraseological units and stable phrases are recorded, which are regularly found in liturgical texts. The first volume describes more than 1800 lexical units. The source of the dictionary is the digitized body of texts used during the service in the Russian Orthodox Church.
