The author calls the era of iconocraticism in Byzantium (VII - IX centuries) to the Golden Age of the Tales of the Tales of Miraculous Icons. This genre of literature at that time was extremely widespread. Rev. John Damaskin in his words against the reproaching holy icons along with quotes from the Holy Fathers leads more than twenty legends about miraculous icons, and after half a century, at the VII Ecumenical Council, more than thirty such legends have been read out. The book also uses other materials and documents of that time. At the same time, the author is not limited to the Byzantine heritage, but repeatedly offers comparisons and parallels with ancient Russian legends about miraculous icons.
