In this monograph, an attempt is made for the first time to shed light on the most important issues of gold mining and the use of gold in the world and in Russia against the background of fragmented information about these processes in different countries, changes in the pace of economic development compared to the growth rates of gold mining in the world, and the use of gold as a means of payment in different historical periods. The author provides an assessment of the possibility of returning to the gold standard in conditions where, on the one hand, there is unrestrained printing of fiat money in Western countries, catastrophic growth of government debt obligations, unilateral refusal of Western countries to comply with international rules and agreements in politics, economics, and military affairs, and on the other hand, the potential for a significant future increase in the growth rates of gold mining in the world compared to the rates of global economic growth.
