De Balzac"s support is undoubtedly one of the best French novelists of the XIX century. The most important feature of his work is that he did not just left behind a huge literary heritage, but also captured the history of a whole society in it. In his human comedy, including about a hundred works, a talented master created a grandiose image gallery - at least two thousand representatives of different estates. Among them there was a place and intelligent, powerful Roshovist Gobsek, who keeps the fate of many brilliant Parisian aristocrats in his hands. He is a character of several novels of Balzac and the story of "Gobsek", which is presented in this book.
