Glass City

As a novice journalist, Megan, setting off on an assignment for the student newspaper, could not have imagined that she would end up in a mysterious city where there is no telephone connection, and instead of money, glass beads are used. Here, a lamplighter lights the lanterns in an old-fashioned way, the most respected profession is glassblowing, and the city is governed by Mayor Drosselflauer, who plays the violin in the evenings for his townspeople. Together with the artist Britt and the idler Hugh, Megan discovers that there is no way back to the familiar and understandable world from here.
