The issue of confiscation is reflected in the stories of B. Maylin. In the plot of the story "The Red Striped Coat," confiscated property is distributed, a red striped coat given by the king to the world-eater is discovered, but it has never been worn. Now every poor person can try it on, which the villagers do. The object of pride for the world-eater becomes a subject of ridicule, both for him and for his entire past life. The work was written during the peak of the struggle, when the actions of the Soviet authorities are leading the country towards famine, in which those who did not wear the red striped coat and those who did will perish.
