This edition includes three of the most significant plays by the world-renowned Norwegian playwright, one of the founders of European 'new drama', Henrik Ibsen. The play "A Doll's House" (1879) was perceived by contemporaries as a feminist manifesto, but in reality Ibsen does not limit himself to the question of women's emancipation here, but poses a deeper, universal problem - the problem of personal freedom. He reveals the hidden internal troubles of the reality of his time behind the apparent idyll, a theme that is further developed and sharpened in "Ghosts" (1881). In the later play "The Master Builder" (1892), Ibsen, under the influence of Friedrich Nietzsche's philosophy, reflects on the concept of chosenness and retribution for it.
