Leon Trotsky was a progressive revolutionary figure, one of the most prominent political figures of the 20th century. The author of the theory of permanent revolution, a practitioner and theorist of Marxism, L.D. Trotsky became the creator of significant historical works on the 1917 revolution, as well as numerous critical articles and autobiographies. The book "The German Revolution and the Stalinist Bureaucracy" was first published in German, but was soon translated into many languages worldwide. In this work, Trotsky conducted a deep analysis of the socio-political struggle in Germany in the 1930s, and also formulated the main theses of socialism.
