The textbook is designed for children with limited health abilities and meets the requirements of the 1st variant of the Basic Curriculum for Special (Corrective) Educational Institutions of the VIII type (Collection of programs for special (corrective) educational institutions of the VIII type for grades 5-9 edited by V. V. Voronkova). The aim of the textbook is to provide 8th-grade students with elementary, yet scientific and systematic information about the geographical location, climate, forms of the earth's surface and water bodies, diversity of plant and animal life, and the population of the globe.
