This textbook continues the line of educational and methodological complexes 'Spheres' in geography. The publication is the first part of the block 'Geography. Russia: nature, population, economy'. The material of the textbook is aimed at forming an understanding of Russia as a holistic geographical region and a subject of the world geographical space, in which natural and socio-economic processes take place. The chapters of the textbook are dedicated to the study of the territory and population of our country, its nature based on a comprehensive approach, in which a special role is given to human beings and their impact on the environment. The textbook is developed in accordance with the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard of Basic General Education, approved by Order of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation No. 287 of May 31, 2021. The boundaries of states and the administrative-territorial division of the Russian Federation on maps are given as of October 2022.
