The textbook considers the main sections of classical and modern genetics. The methodology of genetic analysis is presented on examples of model objects - eukaryotes and prokaryotes, depending on the characteristics of their life cycles. The occurrence on the basis of the classical genetics of modern directions is shown: molecular genetics, genetic engineering, genomics, genetic toxicology, individual development genetics, as well as the importance of genetic analysis methods in selection, medical genetics and human genetics, are summarized by modern ideas about the microevolution and the evolution of genetic material. The assimilation of the material contributes to questions and tasks after each chapter, as well as the reference section and literature recommended for additional reading
