There he also received a special education in an educational institution at the Botanical Garden in Copenhagen, after which he consisted for several years as a teacher and a gardener under the Utland society of gardening. In the 1840s he moved to Russia and settled in St. Petersburg, where in 1850 he was appointed the main gardener at the St. Petersburg Forest and Survey Institute. In 1862, Schroeder moved to Moscow and became the main gardener at the Petrovsky Forest and Agricultural Academy, where he served more than forty years, until his death, leaving there significant collections of various plants and the dendrological garden organized by him.
