Nikolai Ivanovich Kichunov (1863-1942)-Sandovar scientist, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences (1934), Professor (1920), Hero of Socialist Labor (1924), Honored Worker of Science of the RSFSR (1936) Nikolai Ivanovich studied in 1884-1886 at the University of Gene and the Potsdam Institute of Horticulture (Germany), and later in 1887-1889 he worked as the head of the Petrovic school of gardening. He is the cooal of the Korochansky school of gardening. In 1894, at the International Farmings Exhibition in St. Petersburg, Korochansky apples were awarded a large gold medal, and in 1896 at the All-Russian exhibition in Nizhny Novgorod-a diploma of the first degree. He was familiar with I.V. Michurin, who named one of his best varieties of roses “N. I. Kichunov. In 1920-1929, he was a professor at the Petrograd Agricultural Institute (Department of Farmity) and at the same time from 1923 to the end of his life Nikolai Ivanovich worked at the All -Union Institute of Botanika and new applied crops
