This edition is the first Russian book dedicated to the French Music Theater Baroque. A detailed descriptive historical-theater approach is balanced by interdisciplinary analysis of the phenomenon as a whole. The temporary framework covers the period from the "Comic Ballet of the Queen" (1581) to the last opera of Jean Philip Ramo "Boreada" (1764), from Renaissance to the century of enlightenment. "Where is Baroque? - The author asks itself. Everywhere ... longing for the lost ideal, which will be called by Olympus, then Arkady, will become a true source of lyrism of the French baroque. The author analyzes the musical theater in the inseparable unity of dance and singing, ballet and opera, music and words characteristic of France. Does not elude the interests of the author and the metaphysical dimension, ideological and philosophical struggle in search of a labeled perfection.
The book is written alive, colorful, easily perceived syllable, which allows you to absorb complex construction without tension. Designed for all readers interested in the musical theater and the history of world culture as a whole
